I have recently obtained a 1929 Ford Model A in good running condition. After going through several references, I have been unable to determine what is the best grade of motor oil to use in this vehicle. Should I use a straight 30-weight oil, or would a multi-grade oil be better. Most of the multi-grade oils available today were not around in 1929. Also, what is the proper grade of gasoline to use? Should I use straight 89 octane from the pump, or should a lead substitute be added? Was leaded gasoline even available in 1929? Any thoughts or ideas about the above two questions would be appreciated.\ Carl |
