King pins

Looking for information or advice on replacing king pins. I have an early 29 which has the "style 1" locking pin. It seems that all of the replacement king pins only accomodate the "style 3" or tapered pin type locking pin. I'd like to reuse my own locking pins, but it looks like it would require a trip to the machine shop to have the "V" shaped notches in the king pins reshaped to be rounded. Anyone have any experiences or advice with this repair?
