: I have a car with hydraulic brakes and would like to upgrade ...the car is using 40 Ford brakes now...I would like more stopping power...has anyone ever seen disc brakes on original wheels?Or has anyone ever found a better drum conversion? I just don't seem to get the stopping power with the 40 units.

Joel,The February 92 issue of American Rodder has an article on installing F100 pickup brakes on early Fords. These are found on 53-56 halfton pickups and are self energizing which the 40 ford brakes are not.To adapt these to your spindles you need to change the inner wheel bearing(BCA14116) and seal(National 450461)
