: Due to not having a rebuildable generator I purchased a 6 volt
: one wire hookup aternator for my 29 closed cab pickup and now
: I have a slight current drain through the alt. This goes away
: when I remove the one wire hookup.I am not on the road yet so cannot tell if the charging rate is correct.Do I have a defective alt.Or am I just charging up somthing inside.I don't think this would be normal operation. And for the purist this is the only alteration except for a little more comfortable seat cushion. Thanks for any and all help.

G'Day Jim,
Silly question & I'm not sure it'll help but most alternators nowadays are negative ground (I've yet to come across a posotive ground one) so did you remember to reverse your battery polarity?. This may cause a problem if you haven't, as a diode is just a valve that allows current to flow in one direction only.
