: I recently purchased a water pump rebuild kit from Bratton's that contains a collar with a set screw that goes on the shaft at the front of the pump to eliminate shaft end play.My question is this.Should that collar replace the normal cupped bearing retainer or be put on in addition to it.There were no instructions with the kit and both parts came with it.If anyone has used one of these before I would appreciate some help.Thanks.

G'Day Barry,
I've just done something that niggles me & that's changed the title on your posting, but I'd be interested to know what your impeller to head clearance works out to with the water pump in place once all the washers, nuts, spacers etc. are fitted between the back of the pulley & the pump housing. Maybe you could remove the water outlet neck from the cylinder head & measure it as a matter of interest.
Thankx
Regardz
DJ.
