Jim,
If you go to your local NAPA dealer you will find a great alignment tool.The tool is spring loaded to fit between the wheels, has a guage graduated in 1/32", and has chains on the end of the tool that provide the reference from the floor so you always measure at the proper spot.I think you can get this tool for about $80.It works great!!
