Ed,
It may sound nice for the overdrive and the syncros but the gear ratios of the under drives do not match the torque curve of the Model A. 1st would turn into granny and more frequent shifting for around town driving. I know of a '37 Chevy PU with this mod and now the owner is kicking himself or should I say shifting himself! For all the work involved to get overdrive it is better to leave it as Henry built it.

: I hear the ranger 5 speed unit works on the A. How much work is there? Is an adapter needed to mount it? Does the tork tube still fit, how many other orrigonal parts need to be changed. It seems as if this would solve the highway problem by slowing down the rpm's without getting into selonoids and othere things with overdrive units. Has anyone done this without the wilton kit? That seems somewhat expensive. Thanks for you help, Ed
