5speed ranger xmission fit

I hear the ranger 5 speed unit works on the A. How much work is there? Is an adapter needed to mount it? Does the tork tube still fit, how many other orrigonal parts need to be changed. It seems as if this would solve the highway problem by slowing down the rpm's without getting into selonoids and othere things with overdrive units. Has anyone done this without the wilton kit? That seems somewhat expensive. Thanks for you help, Ed
