You can have the crank "industrial hard-chromed" and ground
to size. You might consider, since I never said that this
was cheap, re-line-boring the mains, at least, to standard and
having the crank chromed back to standard to match. Because
it's hideously under-sized (on the mains), you'll have lots and
lots of babbitt to cut down - biggest undersize - fattest
babbitt. Industrial hard-chromed cranks and cams last almost
forever without wear, so re-grinding the crank is one thing
you'll never have to do again. Do have the crank magnafluxed
to be sure you're working on a good one - if you do this, you
can use any model a crank - not necessarily the one from your
engine - because you'll be re-fitting anyway. Is the current
babbitt good enough to be worth all the trouble? Sounds kind
of suspicious ...
