: Three types of manifold gaskets are listed in "A" catalogues. There is a 2 piece asbestos (the cheapest) , a 1 piece asbestos & steel, and a copper manifold gasket.(the most expensive) Which of the 3 is best for an 'A' that is not shown? Are the gland rings necessary? Are there any precautions that should be taken in the installation of these gaskets?

Which is Best? If you are doing a show car then you will use the copper set, if you want to be most authentic then use the copper. However, if you drive you car then you will probably find the one-piece asbestos/steel gasket a good alternative to the copper. The one-piece seems to hold up well and is easy to install since it has slots that slide around the manifold studs.

I would NOT use the gland rings because it is too easy to crack the manifold because of mis-aligned rings, especially if your using an original manifold that most likely is out of alignment anyways.

Just be sure to tighten up the manifold nuts evenly and use a torque wrench so you wont over tighten them.
