manifold gaskets

Three types of manifold gaskets are listed in "A" catalogues. There is a 2 piece asbestos (the cheapest) , a 1 piece asbestos & steel, and a copper manifold gasket.(the most expensive) Which of the 3 is best for an 'A' that is not shown? Are the gland rings necessary? Are there any precautions that should be taken in the installation of these gaskets?
