Brian,
It could be one of many things. The areas of the engine that could cause this might be Fuel, Iginition, Mechanical, Exhaust. Is there exhaust gas before the loss of power ? You could have a bad muffler that becomes blocked after 3 Km. What happens when you stop after the loss of power ? Is the exhaust still blocked ? Does the car get better if you idle for awhile or do you have to shut it off and wait ?
It could be the fuel system. If there was a partial bockage of fuel you would run OK until the fuel in the carburetor float bowl ran out then you would see a loss of power due to a limited fuel supply. What happens after you lose power ? Does it idle fine ? If you idle for a while does the power come back again for another 3 Km ? The most likely problem with the igintion system would be the condenser. It might be OK while it is cold but when it gets warm it may fail. This problem should not go away if you idle after a lose of power.: My 1931 A seems to lose power after driving for about 3Kms or i think aout 1.5 miles???
: there seems to be no exhuast gas from the exhuast and there is a coplete loss of power( the car is drivable but at snails pace.)
: Please help
: I am told it could be a muffler box???
: Would a new exhuast system help???
: Happy Model A'ing
: Brian
