: I was told by the previous owner of my 1929 Model A to use 30 weight non detergent oil in the motor. I assume this was based on the original factory recommendations. Considering that oil formulas are now vastly improved, is there any reason not to use a multi-grade detergent oil? Any suggestions?
: What oil shold we use for rear end....
: What antifreeze (winter is coming..)?
: shood we use duckhams heritage oil??

I don't like to use detergent oil...as it works like the detergent in your washing machine...it holds the particles of carbon and junk in suspension...the non-detergent oil allows the trash to settle out on the bottom of the pan...detergent would work well if you had a oil-filter...but having that junk going through my bearings again and again...bothers me...use non-detergent and change often...
Yes I use regular anti-freeze in the cooling system...but ya have to be careful not to let the spatters that escape from the cap when hot and the water pump...get on the paint..it bleaches the paint some...but I don't know of anything else to use...I have been driving my "A"s for over 30 years...
The trans and rear-end use 600 weight...(old system)
I have used that but it really appears to be of the exact viscosity as 140 weight gear oil...and in the 30 years I have never had a problem using 140 weight gear grease...
