I own a '30 Tudor with the 19" wheels. I am looking at using metal valve stems instead of the rubber type. Brattons, Snyders and others offer a tube with the metal valves and also the dust covers. Is this kind of tube as reliable as the rubber valve stem kind? How good is the repro dust cover? I have seen replated originals advertised but they seem very expensive. How about using an original dust cover with a repro metal stem? I also notice that you can buy the metal valve stem separately, and by cutting off the rubber valve stem on a tube, you can install the metal one. Is this a good idea? How are the repro metal valve stems attached to the tube - vulcanized or with washer and lock nut or both?
