: I just bought a Model A deluxe coupe. It was supposed to have been a 1930 model. The engine is a 1931. There is some evidence that the vehicle is a 1931. The body number is 166-3809. Is there a list which would identify this? Is there some other way to positively identify the real age?

THE MOST OBVIOUS DISTINGUISHING TRAITS ARE ON THEEXTERIOR SUCH AS RADIATOR GRILL SHELL (31 IS 2 PIECE), THE RUNNING BOARD SPLASH APRONS (30 IS 2 PIECE) AND I BELIEVE THE LENTH OF THE FRONT BUMPERS WHICH WERE SHORTENED SOMETIME IN LATE 30. THE FIREWALL OF LATER 31s IS ALSO INDENTED. THESE ARE INADDITION TO THE OBVIOUS SUCH AS FRAME AND ENGINE NUMBERS.BUT WITH A "RESTORATION" ANY COMBINATION OF PARTS IS POSSIBLE.I WOULD ASSUME FOR REGISTRATION PURPOSES THAT THE FRAME/ENGINE NUMBER(S) ARE THE DEFINING POINTS.
