Rick, I also used a zener diode for several years and had no problems with it.The problem comes in that normally the third brush is set to charge at 4-6 amps for daytime driving.On those occasions when the lights are used this causes a negative charge and less than ideal light brilliance.Short of
adjusting charge rate every time you are driving at night a means is needed to automaticcally do this adjustment.
I have installed an alternator which serves this problem however is not very authentic.I am therefore searching for a voltage/current regulator that does not change appearance of
car
