:My suggestion is to forget RPM. Every car has a speed that it drives best at. Note this speed on the Speedometer. To check the Speedometer for accuracy is easy. The mile markers on the highways are for the most part very accurate. Set your car on the speed you like and time it at that speed for one mile.Take the number of seconds it took you to go the mile and divide that number into 3600(the seconds in an hour) and you have your speed.Example:60 seconds to go the mile. 60divided into 3600 = 60 MPH.
