Sorry for the lack of clarity - normally I assay to eschew obfuscation.

What I meant to indicate was that the slot for the shifter ball, which is about 0.51 wide front-back (for 0.01 clearance on a 0.5" ball), and should be about 3/8" deep from the flat surface of the fork measured right to left (with the assembly installed).

The reason is that the two shifter forks have about 1/8" of clearance between their facing flats when installed. The required clearance here is between the shift ball and the flat of the OTHER fork with the shifter NOT in the neutral position.

The large ball diameter escapes me at present, but it's not an odd dimension - seems to me it's 1.00".Measure at the pin position since that doesn't wear.
The top half of the ball will be perfect (since it doesn't touch anything) and can be used as a reference by boring a 1" hole in a large washer, then filing the welded ball until the washer fits at all angles (took me about two days).

The pin is centered on the ball.

Happy filing-

Bob Carabbio
