: I recently tried to start my inherited 1931 Model A, and discovered that the battery was dead. After repeated attempts to charge the battery... i decided that I might need to get a new one.Two questions

: 1.Any special type of battery to buy for these old cars?
: 2.Any special way to connect the battery?I'm asking because it appears to me that the battery was hooked-up originally with the + connector grounded to the body.
: Please reply via email.Thanks!

Harold,

I bought a Group 1, 6 volt new at the local Pep Boys and it carries a good warrenty.Costs around $39.00 (I got mine on sale for $29.00) vs about $80 at Sears for one with a shorter guarenty.Use positive ground, as all old Fords did.---have fun!!!
