Here's what I know about Shay...

They were based on a Pinto chassis and drivetrain; either 4-speed or automatic transmissions.Any Ford dealer can service them; most any Pinto car can be a donor for spare mechanical parts.

The body is fiberglass, but the fenders were not separate items; they are molded together almost into a "unibody".Hence, they probably won't squeak (and obviously won't rust).

The quality of the plating was generally poor.If the car sits outside frequently, the plating will suffer. However, I've seen several of them, now over 15 years old, that are still in nice condition; depends on the care given.

A lady in Spokane Washington has one for sale with only 3900 miles! It looks like a real cherry; it's always been garaged.Gray with red wheels, two sidemount spares, rear trunk rack and trunk. She wants $7500 firm and that sounds like a real good buy.I'd buy it myself if I had the room.

If you want details, send me an email.
