The depate continues... in my short time in the hobby I have watched from afar or participated in the retrieval of more than a few wounded birds while on tour. I do not recall an instance where an originally equipped Model A did not make the round trip.

My money goes on the original design, it worked then and it works now. If driven as the design intended it'll get you there and bring you back. No overdrives or modern point plates for this Fool. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I know it works....

The Model A Fool.

: Larry,

: You are quite right the diode selected is important. There are two main considerations, voltage and current. You want to use a diode that is rated for more voltage and current than will ever flow through the circuit. The bigger the better.Of course the limiting factors are how big is the physical size and cost.If you were to use a diode rated at 8.0 volts and 10 amps you would be asking for trouble. But a 24 volt 100 amp diode might be overkill.
