rear main bearing and oil leak

I have a rear main bearing cap that has part of front thrust surface broken away, the babbitt bearing surface looks good, but with part of the front of the babbitt thrust surface broken will this cause a oil leak problem or a bearing problem. If so can just the rear main cap be repaired. thanks for any help.
