When Ford came out with the indented firewall in April 1931, they moved the sediment bowl to the side of the carburetor.This would be either the Zenith-2 or the more rare Zenith-3.

There's a good picture of this setup in the reprint Model A owner's manual.If your friend doesn't have one yet, it's nice to have, especially for a new owner.

You may also want to pick up a book on Model A carburetors.Both Steve Pargeter and Paul Moller have very good books on restoring and tuning carburetors.Your local Model A parts house can fix you up.

And then there's the "bible" for restorers - the MAFCA/MARC Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines which has some great photos of all these items.
