Gary,
Most '29 Town Sedans have Mahogany Woodgrained dashrails. The Judging Standards say that EARLY '29 Town Sedans had dashrails painted upper body color. Late '29 Murray body Town Sedans had an optional Walnut woodgrain on the dashrail.
It has been a long time since I had my dash rail off my Murray but it just bolts at the ends as I recall. Seems like there is another piece underneath that braces the gas tank to the body. The gas tank is not part of the outer body as on most other '29's. As you said there is no bolt holes in the dash from the passenger side like many others.
