Hayes, An aluminum replacement for the Model A and B is available from Donovan Engineering, 2305 Border Ave., Torrance, CA 90501 (301)320-3772.The area code may have changed since I received my package of information some years ago.They call it the Donovan Model "D" and here's what they said in their flyer: 356 T-6 aluminum 20% lighter, yet stronger than cast iron 201 C.I. displacement Ductile iron sleeves Ductile iron 4-bolt splayed angle main caps, finish honed to size Five main bearings utilize insert bearings and neoprene rear seal Water jackets 1/2" longer than stock Full oil pressure to camshaft and crankshaft bearings Extra large oil gallery with double row of bolts for sealing Four extra large individual intake ports, doubling the size of stock 4340 aircraft quality main studs and nuts vs. bolts Additional bolts for sealing intake and exhaust Comes with: Side cover plate with pressure take-off boss and remote oil filter adapter provision Block kit: includes main studs, nuts and washers Seats and guides for flatheads, or plugs and tubes for overhead Cylinder sleeves Main caps There is a whole list of accessories.... It is pricey... for the SERIOUS tourer or racer.... A friend saw one in Wichita, Kansas in 1992 for $4000 for the basic block.... John |
