: Does anyone know of an easy way to fill the pit marks in wheels. I have some Model A and AA wheels that have pitted over the years. Some are very small [ pencil point] pits and others have depressions the size of a pencil eraser. I'd be interested in hearing of different methods of filling or repairing these. Thanks once again!
WALT,
Here is one way I have done it.Easy? Noooooo! I have used a product called Feather Fill, a very heavy catalyzed primer which was developed to cover grinding marks on body panels.Obviously it is sprayed on and covering the pits is easy. But it must be sanded to bring the outer surfaces to the same level as that around the pits, thus covering them. That is where the hard part comes in....the spokes get in the way.It is all done by hand and kills your fingers. They still must be primed before painting.Another drawback, I am told, is that powder coating does't work very well with the filler.
To say something good about the process...the wheels look fantastic when a good coat of Imron is applied.
I hope some one else responds with a better/easier way to do it because I have six of them to do!
Have fun!
Paul
