Dan,
First since the Model A is a positive ground system when I say 'hot' I am refering to negative.When I say ground I am refering to positive.The horn is wired with the 'hot' side connected directly to the negative side of the battery.The horn switch connects the other (positive) side of the horn to ground.It is quit common to have a short in the wire that goes from the horn button to the bottom of the streeing column. You can take out the horn-light switch and test it with a meter (or light) to see if it is shorted. (Henry must have known that the switch was prone to shorting so it made it a ground switch which if shorted would not melt down the wireing. It would only hurt your ears)
It was a sad day for me when all those carr were sold. I am glad to hear that at least one of them is in good hands.
