What's worked for me in the past for such things is to screw a thick-section nut on the stering shaft. Then flatten accurately the end of a bolt the same size and screw it in tightly against the end of the steering shaft leaving 1/16" gap between the nut and the steering wheel hub. Then support the whole thing on the back side of the wheel with some padding so's not to foul up the rubber and with a LARGE hammer, strike the end of the bolt with the gusto of a large yellow dog. This is like glass cutting - 10% skill and 90% intestinal fortitude. A couple of good licks should break the corrosion, and thensome oiling and wobbling will remove it. |
