A "real" 1928 model car would have "D" nuts built permanently into the rear subframe cross rail (that's the heavy rail that shows - right below your rear body center panel) These D nuts are like threaded sockets and accept the bolts used to attach the forged steel bracket the "drum" type tailight uses. These sockets will be just a little bit "inboard" of the left hand rear fender. It takes a whole lot of "bondo" to fill those little rascals up, so if the body's a '28, those sockets are probably still there, even if somebody has gone and bolted a taillight on the fender (where they belonged, in 1929) As for serial numbers - a real Canadian 28 should have a serial number from "CA1" to CA78127". A proper '28 has only two wires (hi and lo beam) for the headlamps - no cowl lights - no park light circut - and NO Ford script on the top of the lamps. |
