: My '28 tudor gas tank has rust pits completely thru in the weld area where the windshield frame rests on the tank.I have carefully sandblasted these pits and then used muriatic acid in prepartion for leading.I am having trouble tining down inside the pits. You can't sand down into them; you need some kind of chemical treatment.I rinse off the muriatic, then applly the liquid solder flux; it doesn't work that well.I want it to flow on like it does with copper and brass.Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might want to try a product called "Lab Metal" .It is an AL based epoxy available here at most welding shops. It bonds to everything (almost) cures extremly hard and can be ground, filed, or sanded. It can be shaped then filled with body filler or primered and painted.
GOOD LUCK
JIM
