: Is there a laid down standard for the installation of the chassis welt under the splash aprons?. Should holes be cut for the rivet heads as well as the body mounting bolts?. A friend of mine has a new set of mounting blocks for his 31 S/W which have a piece of welt nailed to one side of them. We assume the block is fitted with the welt towards the splash guard. Is this correct?. Any help is appreciated.

There is a real good article in the July/Aug 979 "The Restorer" magizine on page 22, Fig 2. It shows the following Block/Frame assembly sequence as follows, The Frame them Frame welting, the Splash Apron, then a rubber pad and then the body block.
