: HELP!
: I was given one of the alternators that is rebuilt to work on a Model A that you get from the aftermarket parts suppliers. Its an older Delco Remy with the diodes installed separate, maybe one of the earler ones available.I installed this because my generator went kaput and had the alternatoravailable. It appears to charge now but the ampmeter still fluctuates with the engine rpms.I thought that alternators were suppose to keep a constant amp no matter what rpm.A friend told me that the units installed on a Model A will still fluctuate with RPM.My meter fluctuates between 2 and 12 depending on rpm (sometimes 15 to 20 at full throttle without lights on) Perhaps the battery is still not fully charged?Would appreciate ANY information that can help to solve this charging problem. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,
I have a Nu-Rex alternator and it's only charges for a short time (8 amps) then goes back to zero on the amp meter.
Ken
