: I'm just about ready to paint my 29 Briggs 4d "Ford Maroon" and black.I have the Model A paint guide which, on the chip makes maroon look indistinguishable from black.Looking for a modern equivalant; the best I have found is PPG 3280 Maroon M5682A, which I would darken up a little with black. Anyone know any better?
Mydad painted his Ford Maroon '30 Town Sedan about a year and a half ago using DuPont ChromaBase in a base coat /clear coat. The person at the paint shop (who has been great at matching colors for several cars for us) dug around and came up with a formula from somewhere that was an excellent match for the ford factory paint still on the firewall and gas tank on the car. The code was RS388K M, the mixing breakdown for 2 quarts was: 867J Red, 142.1; 806J HS Black, 277.5; 802J LS White, 66.1; 864J Magenta, 2.6; 150K B/C Balancer, 937.6; 175K Binder, 292.9. The mixing stuff should be meaningful to the paint shop, but mostly just as a way to double check what you might find. If you want any more info feel free send e-mail.
