That seems to be a very common problem, I've had two cracked ones myself. I've had good luck drilling at the ends of the cracks and welding with a wire feed welder. I have welded a lot of cast iron blocks and heads with an arc welder
using, Eutectic 680, welding rods. They are nickel rods and flow very well in cast iron and are very strong. The other thing that I have found when welding Model A cast parts is that I can weld them with a wire feed flux core welder. The
parts weld like steel not cast iron. I remember reading somewhere that Henry used cast steel rather than cast iron.
From what I've experienced maybe it's true. I'm sure that someone may have information that may shed some light on this.
