1930 Carbarator linkage

The Carbarator linkage from the Spring arm mounted on the motor to the Carb rubs on the choke rod on my car, can you bend the Spring arm out to give it more clearence,( it appears to be cast and I'm afraid of breaking it)???or is there another solution???
