I share your concerns regarding full flow oil filtration. It sounds as though your approach is well thought out.My question, however; is whether the A oil pump produces sufficient oil pressure to force the oil through the filter and still produce the volumes necessary to supply the engine. This is the basis of my concerns about valve cover filters and other addons. Are we really doing ourselves any good with these devices?
An "A" guy I know describes the oiling concept of the A (as well as most babbits) as high volume not high pressure. If you have taken an A oil pump apart to see what makes it tick, you see that the oil is driven by the action of the oil pump gears swirling the fluid up the pipe.I would be concerned that the back-pressure of the filter would impede this action and short-change the oil volume supplied to the engine. It would certainly work if you could modify or replace the A original pump with a positive action "high-pressure" (read modern engine) oil pump. This concept also brings to mind various problems, but I digress.
