: : I recently saw a posting discussing that a 5 psi pressurized was used. This sounds like a good idea to me. If my old physics is still good, it should add 5 C temperature protection from boiling.to 221 F.My question, is how is this done, is there a limit on how much pressure would work and how do you maintain the pressure (type of cap, etc.)

: Hi Mike..I have a 5 PSI system on my 30 Coupe, and it doesn't overheat. My 5 PSI thermostat is enclosed in a plastic case that has hose connections on both ends. One hose is connected to the radiator overflow tube, and the rear hose is cut long enough to clear the end on the splash pan in case the thermostat opens. There is a fat "O" ring that fits inside the radiator cap to seal that end of the system.

Larry, how do you seal the water pump. Sooner or later you will spring a leak in the turnin' shaft packing 'cuz from my perspective the design of the pump is not compatable with pressure. Only my opinion but the little gain isn't worth the effort. Once I get to 200 I'm stoping to find out why????????? But what the heck do I know. I'm one of those stinking purists, I don't even have an alternator.

God speed under 50
