: After a successful ride through the Memorial Day parade with our 1930 Deluxe Town Sedan, one side of our fan blade broke off, denting the inside of the hood and fender on its way out.We were able to drive the short distance home by cutting off the other side of the fan in order to balance the water pump pulley.

: I am not sure if this was an original or a reproduction fan blade. However, I have read that some steel repro fan blades are prone to breaking.I have also seen that Obsolete Ford Parts sells an aluminum reproduction fan blade. Does anyone out there have any information on this topic or a recommendation on a good reproduction fan blade?

Mark,

I can relate to your problem, since, I too, had a similar fate in My Town Sedan.I do a lot of long distance touring and as a result I have switched to a modern plastic fan that is available from a number of Model A parts houses. For me, it's just one less thing to worry about while touring. As for the aluminum fan, a lot of the driver Model "A"s in our club have gone to that fan and have had good success with it.A friend just put one on his '30 Coupe and once it was sanded smooth and painted, it was hard to tell from original.I think you would get good service from that fan.

Doug
