Bob,
Agree with what Bob noted in his response. In addition to looking for the number on the frame, some Model As have a number stamped into the front body cross member. This number is on the top of the cross member and all you need do is lift the floor mat and search. The number can appear anywhere on the cross memeber and the thought is that the letters indicate the assembly plant. There is also a good posibility that letters LB do represent Long Beach for the assembly plant numbers. If you find such a number, I would be most interested as I am trying to gather as many of these cross member numbers as possible. Let me know and I will e mail the particulars that I am interested in getting.
Also some of the rebuilt engines were stamped with letters RC followed by the month and year of rebuild. The RC might stand for reconditioned.
