Hi Tony..It is not uncommon for older people to keep old cars because of many sentimental reasons.Because they are very attached to their automobile, they feel that the car is worth more than the average price.I would do two things..

One, buy the latest copy of Hemmings Motor News at a bookstore or news stand, and compile a listing of unrestored 30-31 tudors and their asking prices.Then, based on the condition of the car, you will have a good idea on how much to offer him.But first..

Get him involved in the possible sale by stating that you would like to have him come and see how the restoration is coming at periodic intervals.Then promise him a ride in the car when you are done.Then talk about sale price.That way, he doesn't have to "let go" all at once.Good luck..
