: I have a '30 C.C. P.U. with a rebuilt distributer, new plugs, rebuilt carb and new wiring. The coil was hooked up with power coming in on the pos. side and wire to the distributer on the neg. side (it's marked '+' & '-' vs. the orig. bat & dist I'm told it should have if the dist. was orig.).I always learned that the pos. side should be connected to the distributer on positive ground. It starts and runs great until I've run 10 or 15 miles, then begins missing and backfiring - like a bad condenser.Carb bowl is clean and timing is right on the money.Heat shield is in place and condenser was new when I rebuilt the distributer.Switching the wires back doesn't seem to make a difference. What am I overlooking?Any ideas will be appreciated!!

Hi Steve..

Havent had your problem with my Model A yet, but when Bob mentioned the coil, it brought back an experience I had with a 60 Thunderbird.

The car would run fine for about 15 minutes, then die.I turned off the ignition for a couple of minutes, then stated the engine, and it ran fine for another 15 minutes, then did it all over again to get home.A new coil solved my problem. It would be interesting to see if you could duplicate that.

Let all of us know what the ultimate fix is.
