: I recently inherited my grandfather's prize 1931 Model A Ford that is in almost perfect condition except for the chrome, paint and very minor rust.I'm in college and will be working on it this summer.Since I have never done this before does anyone have any helpful hint on do's and don'ts as I begin the task that my grandfather always wanted to do but couldn't because of his health.

Hi Ken..

Your question raises a lot of other questions I'm sure the other restorers here will ask.I have two major questions, and then we will proceed to try and respond based on your answers.First, describe as accurately as you can what level of restoration you want.ie: Show car, real nice occasional driver, or every day driver.Second, do you have the facility (shop, equipment) and some native talents to do the work yourself? Then I'm sure there will be some helpful hints.

Regards..

Larry Jenkins
