: I have a 29 rdstr p.u. and my wife likes to ride in the back, but always complains about exhaust. I have fixed the leaks at the manifold and the manifold to muffler conection. Now i'm considering extending the tail pipe so that it ends beyond the end of the truck bed, it curently stops before the rear axel. Has anyone tried this before? I would appreciate any feedback.
:Thanks PK

Parnell, I recently visited a fellow with a 29 closed cab pickup and he had extended his tailpipe so that it exited just behind the rear passenger side fender. He said that on long trips he would get fumes into the cab before he made themodification.
In the MAFCA Judging Standards there is a good drawing of a design change to the muffler/tailpipe used on the '31 Station Wagons which may be of interest to you. This drawing may also be in the Service Bulletins book, I have yet to buy that book. -DAN
