Dan:
There is an easy way to remove the front driveshaft bearing race (sleeve in the torquetube).Remove the keeper, speedo gear, spacer and bearing (if it comes out easily, if not, leave in place).Remove bolts holding the torque tube to the rear-end and slide off dirveshaft.Place a 1-1/16" six-point socket over the splined end of the driveshaft.Slide the torque tube part way over the driveshaft, and using a helper upright the torque tube so it is pointing straight up.Hold it a couple of feet above the rear-end, then firmly drop it down - the socket will neatly unseat the seal, race, and bearing (if still in place). When reassembling, use a new seal with lip facing forward first, then compress race by wrapping with wire so it can be started into the recess.Remove wire and push rest of the way, making sure the dedent is seated in the recess properly. The driveshaft was not hardened and is often worn or pitted in this area. After reassembly of the transmission and rear-end, fill u-joint with grease using the fitting until it is full - if you take out one speedo housing bolt, grease will be forced out the hole when its full (takes a lot of grease!)Good luck
