In the good old days, we would grab a "center tap" on the cell connector between the 3rd and 4th cell on the 12 volt battery which would give us 6 volts which we would connect to the 6 volt accessory. The problem nowadays is that the cell connectors are under the plastic cover and hard to get to.
Depending on the battery, it can still be done but it would involve some exploratory case cutting to find the connector straps which would have to be sealed up afterwards. The one you want would be on the opposite side of the battery from the terminals in the center (right to left) and about the same distance in from the edge. You'ld have to wear mondo face protection and watch out for sparks in case there's hydrogen hanging around unless you discharge the battery pretty completely first.

There are two other safer ways to correct the situation. One is to rewind the motor for 12 volt operation. This isn't easy but is possible due to the open construction of the "A" horns.
The other is to install a voltage regulator that provides a "Stiff" 6 volt supply with a 10 amp surge capacity to the horn. A dropping resistor alone won't do it. There has to be an "Active device" (transistor regulator) involved.I could give some pointers on building one of you're interested. The electronics club at the local high school would know how to do it too.I expect the parts cost would be about $10-15 if you have a good surplus electronics store around.
