I can relate to your problem.I used spraycan-primer on the firewall.After two coats of Lacquer, it lifted.. the primer held down fine... The lesson I learned is to buy your primer at the same place you get your top color coat.It may cost a bit more, but it sure beats doing the job twice.. unless you need the experience.I 'd suppose one of the reasons they used Lacquerundr the hood was to resist the gas peeling off the paint..
