Noisy transmission

I have rebuilt the tranny in my '28 Fordor (multi-disk clutch) and it makes a lot of noise when in neutral and revving the engine.I took a lot af care to get all clearances in spec, new bearings, very good used Ford gears except for the cluster gear which is a new Mark gear.It also jumps out of second gear when pulling hard uphill, even though the gear seems fully engaged (I remove shift tower and checked that it slides gear into full mesh). It jumps out so hard that you can't hold in second even with the gearshift held firmly!Has any one else experienced a similiar problem, especially using a new repro gear with some original Ford gears?
