: Took the old girl out this weekend.Started up fine and drove
: well for about 10 min. Stopped at a gas station and added
: 2 gal gas. When I pulled out of the station, the car
: ran funny going uphill while in 3rd gear.If I let up on the
: accelerator, slowed down and accelerated, the problem went
: away.Ran well for another 10 min, then while going up a
: long hill, the sputtering came back and there was a small
: back fire.Somewhat shaken I drove the car home instead of
: continuing my trip.

: What causes intermittent missing and backfiringin 3rd gear while hill climbing? Is this a fuel or electrical problem
: and why does it only occur in this circumstance?

: Thanks

Was it a backfire or a carburetor pop? mIf the later, try
opening up the choke needle while climbing the hill.
