Most people convert to a "B" engine in order to obtain the advantages of heavier rods and a counterwieghted crank with the added improvement of heavier, more durable main journals. They're looking for "smooth and powerful" rather than fast. Perhaps "powerful" would translate into an ability to handle the high-speed differential ratio more effectively and there fore go a bit faster, especially on hills.George DeAngelis (the model a as henry built it ... ) says the rating is 50 horsepower at 2800 RPM and 90 pounds compression with max torque at 2800 rpm of 127.An A is 40 at 2200 with 76 comp. and 128 torque at 1000 rpm according to Bob Rentz. Not a whole lot of difference, really. |
