The '28-29 steering wheels were mounted on splined shafts. After several years sitting there, it ain't gonna wanna come loose easily. What won't hurt is to douse it good with wd-40 or some other rust penetrant. Then, if you can find a gear puller or something that you can GENTLY grab under the wheel near the hub, that would be the least-injurious way to remove the stuck wheel. After it's been soaking for a couple of days, here's another "trick" - find yourself a lead hammer.Put the nut back on the shaft and thread it until the threads are just starting to protrude thru the nut. There should still be some space between the nut and the wheel.Grab on to the wheel by opposite spokes near the hub.Put your pulling weight on the wheel and try to lift it off.Meanwhile, have your friend give the nut a few sharp raps with the lead hammer. If you're lucky, the vibrations will cause the wheel to break free.-- If none of this works, send an e-mail message to modasvc@aol.com, the address of MAFCA's Technical Director. He'd be happy to give you a tip or two.Good Luck!
